FWCS Natatorium Staff

Liz Caywood

Liz Caywood has been employed with Fort Wayne Community Schools as the Natatorium Director since June 2001. She serves as the director for both the Helen P. Brown Natatorium and the North Side High School pool, the two aquatic facilities in Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Liz came to FWCS with more than 11 years of service at the YWCA of Fort Wayne, where she started as a lifeguard and swim instructor. She then moved into the aquatic management position and eventually became the Sports Club Director, overseeing the Sports Complex, as well as providing the risk management for the agency. While at the Sports Club, in 1997-99, Liz was ranked the #1 Aquatics Director in Indiana and #7 in the nation by the United States Water Fitness Association. Her first lifeguarding and instructing job was through the City of Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department.

Liz also has experience coaching high school swimming, as well as younger children. She founded and coached the Summit City Sharks summer swim team that targeted children and teens in the community who were looking for a less expensive, "fun-oriented" swim team that took away some of the pressures of learning to swim competitively.

Liz is a licensed Lifeguard Instructor Trainer through the International Lifeguard Training Program (Ellis & Associates). She is a certified Water Safety instructor through the American Red Cross and a certified Exercise Instructor through the Aquatic Exercise Association. She is a certified pools Operator. Liz holds a B.A. in Psychology from Purdue University.
