School Board

The FWCS Board of School Trustees is composed of seven elected citizens. Five members represent specific districts; the remaining two are elected at-large. Each member must be at least 21 years of age, be a registered voter in the represented district, and have been a resident in the school corporation for at least one year, and one year within the residence district.

Board meetings are broadcast live at left, and on Comcast cable channel 54 and Verizon channel 24.

School Board News

Board District Reapportionment
The FWCS Board of School Trustees approved reapportioning Board district boundaries in accordance with Indiana Code in April 2012. Board districts must be relatively equal in size, and the 2010 Census data show reapportionment is necessary. Under the Board's proposal, eight precincts would change districts: Precincts 575, 516 and 369 would move from District 1 to District 4; Precinct 577 would move from District 1 to District 5; Precincts 306, 308 and 313 would move from District 2 to District 1; and Precinct 298 would move from District 1 to District 2. Affected voters in Districts 2, 3 and 5 will experience the change in the Nov. 2012 election. Districts 1 and 4 will see the change in Nov. 2014..

The School Board schedule for the current school year is listed at left. In general, the Board meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month. See calendar for exceptions. If the date is underlined, it is a link to the minutes of that meeting. Minutes become available shortly after they are approved at the next Board meeting.
